Don't Drink and Drive

This picture was taken of my 4 year old on Christmas morning by his uncle. There's something about the colors and the tongue sticking out that really appeals to me. I can tell that he's trying not to laugh, and he titled this photo "don't drink and drive". Perhaps I have a crazy sense of humor but I love this.....just thought I would share.

The car is his "Brum" a silly British show about a car that saves the day. He has been in love with "Brum" since he was old enough to walk/talk/crawl. My parents found him his very own "Brum" years ago and he has almost outgrown it. If I am lucky I will be able to save it for his kids, that is if it doesn't get destroyed in the meantime by well intentioned uncles talking crazy pictures.

You're The Great Gatsby!

by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Having grown up in immense wealth and privilege, the world is truly at
your doorstep. Instead of reveling in this life of luxury, however, you spend most of
your time mooning over a failed romance. The object of your affection is all but
worthless--a frivolous liar--but it matters not to you. You can paint any image of the
past you want and make it seem real. If you were a color of fishing boat light, you
would be green.

Common sense, where does it come from?

Common sense, who can tell me what that it is and how do you learn common sense? It's obviously not something that is being taught in our schools. Is it common sense to be polite to other people? Is it common sense to chat away on a cell phone while driving? How can we teach our children to be nice polite people when we are surrounded by people without common sense? My take on common sense is that it's basic human politeness, and unfortunately we are, as a human race, coming up short. We can't seem to look beyond our cell phones/blackberries/PDA's of all sorts to see the people around us. I personally don't own a cell phone....gasp.....did I really just admit that? My hubby does, and quite frankly I find it quite handy to be able to hunt him down and tell him to stop at the store and buy something for dinner, but that doesn't mean that I want to be found where ever I am. Now as a woman driving at night I can really see the benefit to having one, just in case. Just yesterday a friend at school locked her keys/purse/laptop/phone in her car, and asked me if I had a cell phone she could borrow. I had to say "Nope sorry" but there were at least 5 other people in class willing to lend her theirs. Is it common sense to have a cell phone? Maybe, maybe not......
